Junior Quilting Display

Our fellow quilters at the Victoria Quilters' Guild have invited ALL young quilters to display a quilt of their own at their upcoming show.

City of Gardens Quilt Show and Sale

Quilt Show   May 4 – 6 2018

Pearkes Arena and Recreation Centre

An opportunity for junior stitchers to create a quilt for display at the show.

It may be from a pattern or your own original design.

Open to any youth up to the age of 18

Junior Entrants will receive free entry to the show.

Entries for display– A quilt, a cushion, placemats etc.
No criteria – encourage all juniors to enter a quilted project.
Events planned
Display area for all entries to be hung, and a hands-on quilting workshop.
Sewing station and mini workshop on Saturday from 11-3 
Jarret Sawyer will provide us with sewing machines to use.
Suggested project ideas:
  • pot holder/mug rug/soup bowl – an excellent mini quilt lesson which includes strip piecing, layering, machine quilting, appliqué, trimming and binding. (fabrics, batting and thread provided)
We want to encourage participation and all entries will be displayed.  Guild members will select a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd from the entries.  There may be ribbons or small prizes awarded.
Note: studies have shown that sewing is good for brain development (as are art and music lessons).
