Show and Share pictures from our July picnic meeting

Netta just brought a fabulous picnic quilt for the evening.

Tracy, Kim, and Lisa showed off their satellite group's mug tote project. (Not pictured: Pam and Gayle)
The mugs inside all matched as well.

Judy and another fabulous bag. Love the fabric!

Ruth is working through the entire "Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters" by Sherri Lynn Wood.
This quilt is the "doodle" score from the book.

Ruth's again, this one is the improv squares we think.

Susan and the row by row she design for Satin Moon. Patterns and kits for this are now available through Gala Fabrics. (Including a Vancouver version!)

Rosalie and a mini quilt with fabrics given to her by two different friends at two different times.

Another quilt by Rosalie.

The reverse of the quilt above. Not sure which is the front or the back but we love them both!

Crin teased us that she had finally made a modern quilt! It looks great Crin.

Looks good on point too. That's Crin's sister Anne on the right. She's a great longarmer.

And the back!

Jay showed this quilt made of all African fabrics. She says she made up the pattern as she went. Looks LOVELY.

Margaret will be teaching quilting in the fall at the Cook St. Activity Centre. Congratulations Margaret!

This is the first project she'll be teaching.

And the second option she's offering.

Katherine won the block lotto in January 2015. She says it needs to mellow again before she quilts it.

Sharon is prepping for her winter quilt guild in Yuma Arizona. This year they are making quilts for the US Quilts of Valor (they alternate years. and spellings) hence the red, white, and blue colour scheme.

Margaret has been teaching Sharon some quilt as you go.

And OF COURSE you should match your shoes to your quilt. Or is it the other way around?
Natalie is doing the Mighty Lucky Quilting Club and this is her project from March, called "One Wrong Colour". The premise was to pull a colour palette then add a "wrong" colour, then add more fabrics to make the wrong one blend! Smashing job Natalie.

The back.

Natalie got some of those fabrics from our DeStash sale last year. What treasures will you find at our sale this year? August 18th!! Sell some stuff you don't need/want/like, find some treasures that are new to you!

This quilt is for Natalie's son's seventh birthday next month and it is the FIRST quilt she quilted on her new long-arm!
Well done everyone! Thanks for joining us, and see you next month at our DeStash/ReStash sale.

June meeting show and share

For our June meeting our guest speaker/trunk show was the incredible Karlee Porter. She lives in Utah and we're in Victoria so we used the fabulous technology available to us to see her quilts.

This is Karlee on our screen. Her background is a painted version of one of her quilts.

The current block lotto, due back at the August meeting.
And then it was time for show and share! Always popular, always amazing.

Kelly took the quilt as you go workshop with Marianne in March. Gorgeous fabrics, gorgeous quilt.

Back of Kelly's quilt.

Linda from Satin Moon offered up hundreds of squares and blocks of batiks to be made into a quilt to send to Fort MacMurray. Netta, assisted by Daria and Kathryn, made this super size quilt in just ONE month. It has since been delivered to Fort Mac. Thank you Linda, Netta, Daria, and Kathryn!

Netta used some interior design fabric gifted from a family member for the backing.

Jay finished this quilt with blocks she received from a swap.

And she included the signature blocks on the back.

Lovely thread painting! Jay made this poppy “plant pounding" finished with thread painting.

Rosalie and another colourful work.

Rosalie made her own I spy polaroid quilt!

This was the block lotto won at the May meeting, and now it's a quilt top. Speedy work Judy F!

Esther and her Preppy the Whale quilt. Pattern by the fabulous Elizabeth Hartman.

Barbara's snowmen quilt and we loved what she said about it:
"It's not modern, but it's done, and now I can make the modern quilts." Hurray for finishing it and hurray for modern quilts!

Lois made this fabulous quilt. Great colour palette.

Heather's lovely modern hexie mini. Tutorial from HERE.

Chris and a lovely baby quilt. She used Gwen Marson's "Minimal Quiltmaking" from our library.

Sorry again. This quilt is AWESOME whoever made it.
Ruth's Riley Blake fabric challenge.

Cynthia's improv hearts quilt.

And the back!

Kim won the block lotto waaaay back in May 2015. She let the blocks mellow a bit before sewing them together.

Kari's Riley Blake fabric challenge.

Stacie started this elongated triangles quilt in a workshop with Katie Pedersen at the VQG in March 2015. She pieced it together using Marianne Haak's quilt as you go technique. And it's finally finished.

The back.

Lois (L) and Chris (R) and their Riley Blake fabric challenge.

Sarah was gifted this quilt anonymously at the meeting for her baby. Thank you mystery quilter!
Our guild is growing one by one...Hudson Kenneth Chan was born on July 2nd.

Judy won the block lotto and took home ~380 polaroid blocks!!!!

Well done everyone. See you at our picnic at Elk/Beaver lake, July 21st at 6pm. Potluck picnic!
